Hekima Voice (HV) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 2014 and based in Kagera, Tanzania. Formerly known as Hekima, the organization initially focused on vulnerable children but has since expanded its mission to protect the rights and dignity of adolescents, girls, young women, and children affected by exploitation and abuse. HV is dedicated to breaking the cycle of trafficking, labor exploitation, domestic violence, early and forced marriage, and sexual exploitation through gender-transformative, community-led approaches rooted in feminist values and powered by simple, innovative technologies.
Why We Do What We Do
HEKIMA is dedicated to breaking the cycle of exploitation that impacts children, adolescent girls, and young women, addressing critical issues such as trafficking, child labor, street living, and abuse. We believe every child has the right to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment. Our mission empowers vulnerable individuals to reclaim their rights, build resilience, and reintegrate into family and community life. Through advocacy, skill-building, and the strengthening of protection systems, we are committed to driving transformative change that uplifts individuals and fosters thriving communities across Tanzania.

- Child Protection & Digital Participation
We create safe environments for children in both physical and digital spaces through legal reform, advocacy, and psychosocial support. By strengthening protection systems and promoting safe digital engagement, we ensure children grow and thrive free from abuse, exploitation, and neglect.
- Men and Boys for Gender Equality
This program engages men and boys of all ages as active champions of gender equality and social transformation. It promotes the challenging of harmful norms and stereotypes, encourages positive male role models, and fosters supportive behaviors toward girls and women.
- Innovation for Adolescent Girls and Young Women
We empower adolescent girls and young women as leaders in climate resilience and social change. Through life skills, SRHR, mental health support, education, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange, we foster independence, open pathways to green jobs, and combat exploitation, child marriage, and forced labour.
Children indeed should be growing up in families where they are protected, nurtured, and provided with the care and support they need. A strong family foundation greatly contributes to their overall well-being and future success.
